about

Evocative sounds of insomnia

lyrics

Deep Dark mono-chrome night
Dark sad endless light

Inaugurated by silence
Winter sadness in the dripping caves.

Writers photography
Caved lovers in jeopardy.

Sit up all night
Talking, choking
Count the fences and wait for morning.

Will wait, dream and the faces will come again.
Staring down into the holes in their eyes
Fall but wake up just in time.

Corruption of powers
Masters working
See through glasses
Iris burning
As rotten dreams
And
Stale Ideals
The hounds are snapping
At the heels
Of Danny Boy
Whose pipes are blocked
By vodka fields
And potato shots.

This will be
The death of me
And what a slow death
It will be.

How many voices,
Have escaped you until now?
The venting furnace,
The floorboards underfoot,
The steady accusations of the clock?
Numbering the minutes,
No one will mark.
The terrible clarity this moment brings,
The useless insights,
The unbroken dark.

about

Barabajagal Dunedin, New Zealand

Barabajagal are a band who make music.

It's pretty ok stuff really.

It's rooted in psychedelia but incorporates so many genres that it doesn't really seem too definable. But it's ok with that.

Despite being a kiwi band the songwriter is actually rather English, so whenever he sings you'd be hard pressed to go "wow, those kiwis huh". Still, New Zealand-ish.

Pronounced Bah-Rabba-Jaggle.
