That look in your eye, that cutting edge smile, Well it all seems to fade to cataract grey, And I wonder if they've been gone for a while, So I tell you you're dimming, your diminishing smile Doesn't work for me no more. There's a heave in your sigh, a "what?" in your "why?" And you're content to just stay in bed, Forming a crust that keeps going for miles I try to dig deeper but I hit lava every time. Still desperate. You blink lidlessly and agree with me Still desperate. Waiting for a revelation or at least a quiet epiphany Still desperate. Don't know what you're thinking about or if you're thinking. Still desperate. If that's all you've got then what was it before? Still desperate. You don't realise that you have footprints anymore. Still desperate. How can I hold you when you're so intangible? Your shadow is the only thing available. Still desperate. I can't take your word anymore than you can give it. Still desperate. Show me your ghost so I can reach out and kill it. Does no one else tell you they're still desperate? Still desperate. Still desperate. Still desperate. Still desperate. Still desperate. I can't take your word anymore than you can give it. Still desperate. Show me your ghost so I can reach out and kill it. Does no one else tell you they're still desperate? Still desperate. Still desperate. Still desperate. Still desperate.

There's a sweet red smile with your nice white teeth And your blitzkrieg walk has a bop underneath. You made us eat cake and arsenic too But being a witch is nothing new. One little madam throwing one big fuss You're a grown up woman Don't put it on us. One little madam takes up the whole house Grab her dummy And gag her mouth. And you moan, And you pout, Cos you know we've got you figured out. With a brand new haircut and trim red dress You're not a femme fatale, just a cruel black mess. And you moan, And you pout, Well we know we've got you figured out. One little madam throwing one big fuss You're a grown up woman, Don't put it on us. One little madam uses one little trick To bend us over backwards And get it done quick. You're one little madam You're one little madam You're one little madam You're one little madam

Well trodden boots stamping Well sodden feet up and down on the spot Raincoat help keeps away Raindrops that drop and then stay. Torn weathered jeans he is Torn whether or not are holding him down He's a trivial man On a lineal track No one said anything Bout ever looking back Bus replacement's broken down For a train that came late Stuck in another town Harry has no place. Sore eyes ache bitterly Sore from screens staring at him all day long Glare fixed into the gloom Glaring strongly at what looms. Lightly breathe out as the Lights come done faster and faster still. He's a trivial man On a lineal track No one said anything Bout ever looking back Bus replacement's broken down For a train that came late Stuck in another town Harry has no place. A comfortable room with a firelit glow, Seems so far from the world you know. There's never a time to feel more at ease When everything can be let go. Well trodden boots stamping Well sodden feet up and down on the spot Raincoat help keeps away Raindrops that drop and then stay. Steel lined monstrosities Steely eyed nihilist philosophies. He's a trivial man On a lineal track No one said anything Bout ever looking back Bus replacement's broken down For a train that came late Stuck in another town Harry has no place. Bus replacement's broken down For a train that came late Stuck in another town Harry has no place.

Nothing is silent anymore. I wade through a crowd of whispers As sensitive as the tip of a whisker Nothing is silent anymore. When I die I'll be forgotten As the person that was, No impressions left on the ground. I feel like the person that was, already. And like from an old movie screen I slip seamlessly through the scene, I'm seen and senselessly I scream. Nothing is silent anymore. I wade through a crowd of whispers As sensitive as the tip of a whisker. Nothing is silent anymore. I wade through a crowd of whispers As sensitive as the tip of a whisker. Nothing is silent anymore. I wade through a crowd of whispers As sensitive as the tip of a whisker. Nothing is silent anymore. I wade through a crowd of whispers As sensitive as the tip of a whisker. Nothing is silent anymore.

I see you hanging there thinking you're the model fauna But all you seem to do is sit like potted flora. And I can't wait to see, The social ecology Of your tropic menagerie. And like the creeper vine you reach for the canopy Another parasite clinging to the tree you want to be. And I can't wait to see The social ecology Of your trophic menagerie. And through the jungle you hear a sound, Like a lion in the ground. You get cut down.

Blue Star 03:00
Blue star, blue star Shine where you are Shine in the dark. Blue star, blue star, Shine where you are, Shine from afar, blue. Blue star, blue star Shine where you are Shine in the dark. Blue star, blue star, Shine where you are, Shine from afar, blue.

I saw your eyes like carnival signs And knew you were the one for me. I don't need a cup of tea When you see how sweet honey can be. You caught my eyes and collective views With your mind like electric flies. I don't need a cup of tea, When I look to the red ruby skies. Electric flies will come for you Like electric flies came for me. Electric eyes caught like bugs in electricity. Cut me with your lip sheathed scimitar smile And split my ribcage free. I don't need a cup of tea Open me to set me free. Slowly your kisses of fibreglass Weave into my cracked red lips. I guess I need that cup of tea But I can never quit. Electric flies will come for you Like electric flies came for me. Electric eyes caught like bugs in electricity. Electricity. In electricity. Electric flies will come for you Like electric flies came for me. Electric eyes caught like bugs in electricity.

Dear the girl that I met by the window Who knew you were born to lie? And if someday you found I was there All we could do is cry. Fall in love with a lie And fall on my knees Fall in love with a lie. Falling through a crack in the sky. Although your fevered urges You still thought it was best to die And though I am your bending willow I cannot destroy your lie. Fall in love with a lie And fall on my knees Fall in love with a lie. Falling through a crack in the sky. Eventually you'll show who you are And I'll be there like a shooting star To finally show you to the world For better or worse. Though you lied and leaned upon me I could not leave you, And you try to do as much as I And I forgive you. Fall in love with a lie, And fall on my knees Fall in love with a lie Falling through a crack in the sky. Eventually you'll show who you are And I'll be there like a shooting star To finally show you to the world For better or worse. Fall in love with a lie And into my arms Fall in love with a lie And into my arms Fall in love with a lie And into my arms Into my arms and in love with a lie.

I want to be the bigger man, I want to tell you all I can, I want to show you all I know, How to drive and where to go. As we drove through the mountain side, Shadows climbing at our car, I was fighting the shadows in my mind But it seems to me you were driving to Somewhere I never knew I knew Off the road we'd learnt by heart, Another road we drove my car. The world goes by at its devoted pace People go by in their life long race They move towards their futures blind And who're they leaving behind? The seed will fall and become a tree The rain will fall and become the sea They move towards their futures blind And they're leaving me behind. Their paths are certain, their lives are known, Not worried about who they are. I wonder into which tree I've grown, But it seems to me, you've been growing too Into the sea, a deeper blue A droplet just the hundredth part Another leaf is all we are. The seed will fall and become a tree The rain will fall and become the sea They move towards their futures blind And they're leaving me behind.

Spiral down in a blur of light Like a billow of milky tea Passing through an endless night Caught here eternally. Mountains rise, break and fall Fruit falls from every tree Winds changing encompass all Caught here eternally. Cities stand cos people pass With, around or straight through me. Treading streets that are paved with glass Caught here eternally. Water based bacteria Move around in a formless sea. Chemicals calling loud and clear We're caught here eternally. Atoms pass through the needle's eye Looking out into the sky. Atoms pass through the needle's eye Seconds drip the eons by. Amniotic currents Come in like a torrent. Atoms pass through the needle's eye Seconds drip the eons by. Water based bacteria Move around in a formless sea Oscillations come wildly To the Samsaran deity. Oscillations come wildly Ripples bursting blindly. Water based bacteria Move around in a formless sea Atoms pass through the needle's eye Seconds drip the eons by. Oscillations come wildly Ripples bursting blindly. These inter-amoebal politics. Amniotic currents Come in like a torrent. Water based bacteria Move around in a formless sea. Chemicals calling loud and clear We're caught here eternally. Spiral down in a blur of light Like a billow of milky tea Passing through an endless night Caught here eternally.

Here he comes walking in wasted. He has found he's got a taste of Lonely nights spent in the corner Waiting for his lucky aura. Ah, he's wasted. Walking in wasted. He walks by undressed and torn By the passerby with scorn. He looks like he's seen it all From the floor by the bedroom wall. Ah, he's wasted Walking in wasted. Moving out of his bedroom. Moving outwards through the gloom. Still, he needs to find a way To get out and with the day. He is wasted. He is wasted. Here he comes walking on blisters. He looks like he's pained and listless But we'll never know for sure, Because he's loose and insecure. Ah, he's wasted Walking in wasted. Ah, he's wasted Walking in wasted. Ah, he's wasted Walking in wasted.

Wildflower 03:45
I think you'd look nice in a field Maybe sitting down. You'd probably wear the hat you do And possibly the scarf you like too. You're definitely sitting down. And this wildflower comes out today. You would look nice in a field Full of dandelions. You'd tilt your head at the sky And a flower would catch my eye. Maybe a bluebell or a daisy. And this wildflower comes out today. I think a dandelion would suit you best. Vibrant yellow flares. Every single one of them stands out proud They are themselves in every crowd. I think you're a wildflower. And this wildflower comes out today.

about

Barabajagals 4th full length album in as many years. Still Desperately putting out music. Still Desperately trying new things, this time with a gentle fuzzy sound and measured approach to everything. Except when that isn't the case. Which is occasionally frequent.

about

Barabajagal Dunedin, New Zealand

Barabajagal are a band who make music.

It's pretty ok stuff really.

It's rooted in psychedelia but incorporates so many genres that it doesn't really seem too definable. But it's ok with that.

Despite being a kiwi band the songwriter is actually rather English, so whenever he sings you'd be hard pressed to go "wow, those kiwis huh". Still, New Zealand-ish.

Pronounced Bah-Rabba-Jaggle.
