about

For a brief time we had someone staying at our house, playing guitar far better than I do. So to counter that I wrote lyrics far better than he do. Screw you for being better at something than me. Then I composed something around those lyrics and a really experimental guitar rhythm. Cos he wouldn't think of anything experimental like that and this song's entire purpose is to assert my dominance.

Not necessarily true, but what is true is that I wanted it very goddamned bassy. So I included sounds below our range of hearing. If this song makes you vacate your bowels I am so sorry.

lyrics

Spiral down in a blur of light
Like a billow of milky tea
Passing through an endless night
Caught here eternally.

Mountains rise, break and fall
Fruit falls from every tree
Winds changing encompass all
Caught here eternally.

Cities stand cos people pass
With, around or straight through me.
Treading streets that are paved with glass
Caught here eternally.

Water based bacteria
Move around in a formless sea.
Chemicals calling loud and clear
We're caught here eternally.

Atoms pass through the needle's eye
Looking out into the sky.
Atoms pass through the needle's eye
Seconds drip the eons by.

Amniotic currents
Come in like a torrent.

Atoms pass through the needle's eye
Seconds drip the eons by.

Water based bacteria
Move around in a formless sea

Oscillations come wildly
To the Samsaran deity.
Oscillations come wildly
Ripples bursting blindly.

Water based bacteria
Move around in a formless sea

Atoms pass through the needle's eye
Seconds drip the eons by.
Oscillations come wildly
Ripples bursting blindly.

These inter-amoebal politics.

Amniotic currents
Come in like a torrent.

Water based bacteria
Move around in a formless sea.
Chemicals calling loud and clear
We're caught here eternally.

Spiral down in a blur of light
Like a billow of milky tea
Passing through an endless night
Caught here eternally.

about

Barabajagal Dunedin, New Zealand

Barabajagal are a band who make music.

It's pretty ok stuff really.

It's rooted in psychedelia but incorporates so many genres that it doesn't really seem too definable. But it's ok with that.

Despite being a kiwi band the songwriter is actually rather English, so whenever he sings you'd be hard pressed to go "wow, those kiwis huh". Still, New Zealand-ish.

Pronounced Bah-Rabba-Jaggle.
